Waterborne low-odour non-yellowing acrylate lacquer for use on interior wood surfaces and furniture, e.g. tables, chairs, book shelves, panelled walls, wooden ceilings, doors, etc. It can also be used for protective lacquering of painted and stained surfaces. Not suitable for use on floors (use Parketti-Ässä Floor Lacquer for lacquering floors). Note: The price(s) shown above is/are for white paints only. | Application conditions: | The surface to be lacquered must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +10 ºC, and the relative humidity of the air 30 – 80 %. |
| Application method: | Brush, sponge or spray. Polyester or nylon paint brushes are best suited for the application of Kiva Interior Lacquer. |
| Coverage: | 4-6 m2 x 2 coats / Litre. This information is only intended as a guide. Actual spreading rate will depend upon texture, porosity and hardness of the wood. |
| Drying time at 23°C and 50% relative air humidity | Dust dry in approx. 1/2 hour and recoatable after 2-3 hours. Ready to use the following day. The lacquered surface will reach final hardness after approx. 2 weeks. Hard stress, cleaning and placing of sticking and hot objects on the lacquered surface should be avoided during this time. |
| Preparation: | New wood surface: Clean the surface from dirt and dust. Wet with clean water so as to expose loose wood fibres, allow to dry and sand down. Remove sanding dust. Previously lacquered surface: Wash the surface with a suitable cleaning agent and rinse carefully with water. Sand the surface matt. Completely remove existing coatings that are in poor condition with paint removal agent or by sanding. Treat like new wood surface. |
| Lacquering | Stir Kiva Furniture Lacquer thoroughly before and during use. Thin with water, if necessary. Apply by brush, sponge or spray 2-3 times. If you use a tinted product, make a trial lacquering first on a separate piece of wood to be sure of the right colour. The final colour will depend upon the timber species, i.e. original colour and hardness and number of coats applied. Thin the tinted lacquer with approx. 20-30% water for the first coat. The chosen colour and gloss level will normally be achieved after the application of two coats. Always treat the whole surface without interruption. |
| Maintenance instructions | Cleaning earliest approx. 2 weeks after application, if needed. The surfaces are cleaned with a soft brush, damp cleaning cloth or sponge and neutral (pH 6-8) washing detergent. Very dirty surfaces can be cleaned with a slightly alkaline (pH 8-10) detergent using e.g. a cleaning cloth or sponge. |
| Environmental and waste disposal | Empty tins should be recycled or disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Liquid waste should be destroyed according to the local regulations. |
