Waterborne acrylate paint conforming to EU’s EN 71-3 toy safety standards and can be safely used on children’s toys. It is for interior use on new and previously painted wooden and metal surfaces, e.g. doors, skirting, window frames, cabinets, furniture, etc. Its VOC emissions are very low compared to oil-based products, and so premises will be ready for occupation immediately after painting. It is long lasting and non-yellowing.
Country of Origin: Finland

Chemical resistance: Resists cleaning chemicals and weak solvents.
Colour Range: Tikkurila Symphony Colour Card
Coverage: 4-6 m2 x 2 coats / Litre. This information is only intended as a guide. Actual spreading rate will depend upon texture, porosity and hardness of the wood.
Thinner: Water
Thinning: Thin with up to 10% of water if necessary.
Application Details:
Application method: Brush, sponge or spray.
Application conditions: The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +8°C, and the relative humidity of the air below 80%.  Lower temperature (approx. +15°C) and higher humidity (50-70 % RH) will make the open-time of the paint longer and the work easier.
Priming:

Unpainted surfaces: Remove all dirt and dust carefully to obtain good adhesion. Prime new wood and wood fibre board surfaces with Helmi Primer.  Prime metal surfaces with an anti-erosion metal primer. Prime absorbent surfaces first with a primer thinned with 5-10%, and sand. Prime surface after that with an unthinned primer.

Previously painted surfaces: Wash down previously painted surfaces with a suitable cleaning agent and rinse carefully with water. Remove loose, flaking paint with a scraper and sand hard, glossy and industrially painted surfaces matt. Remove sanding dust. Fill holes and cracks with a furniture putty and sand the filled parts. Prime wooden surfaces with Helmi Primer primer, and metal surfaces with a metal primer.

Painting: Stir the paint thoroughly down to the bottom and thin with water, if necessary. Apply by brush, roller or spray 1-2 times. Apply on large surfaces first with a roller and level with a brush. Multi-branched synthetic brushes are best suited for the work.
Drying time at 23°C and 50% relative air humidity

Dust dry after approx. 1 hour.

Recoatable with Helmi primer approximately after 2 hours.

Recoatable with Helmi Furniture Paint approximately after 5 hours.

Maintenance instructions

Cleaning earliest approx. 1 month after painting. The surfaces are cleaned with a soft brush, damp cleaning cloth or sponge and neutral (pH 6-8) dish washing solution. Very dirty surfaces can be cleaned with a slightly alkaline (pH 8-10) washing detergent using e.g. a cleaning cloth or sponge. Rinse the surface carefully.

The product achieves its final hardness and durability after one month under normal conditions, therefore the surfaces must be handled with care during initial couple of weeks. If the surfaces need to be cleaned soon after finishing, clean them lightly with a soft brush or damp cleaning cloth.
